RESOURCES (for parents, self-help, students and/or professionals)

This section of the site provides users with quick and easy access to helpful tools  that have been developed to assist you with particular problems. More often than not, free self-help books can be downloaded. Please - if any of these links do not work anymore, let me know! (And check out the "Goodbye Sadness - game at the bottom of the page).

Unfortunately I also need to mention - while I am so thankful to all who contributes with links and programs,; sorely lacking is contributions from my own country: South Africa. I am not sure if there is none available, or if there is a lack of interest. Still, the overseas/international contributions contain information you might really find helpful!

EXECUTIVE  FUNCTIONS

Children with developmental disorders (e.g. ADHD, Autism, Asperger, LSD) regularly have problems in the executive functioning area. There are lots of ways that psychologists have described executive functions: Task  initiation (getting started), Sustained attention (keeping focused) Planning, working memory (keeping things in mind), organisation (keeping it together), goal directed persistence (sticking to it), flexibility, self-control, control of feelings, time management and prioritising, metacognotion (self observation) and social thinking (understanding others). A site to watch therefore, is http://www.learningworksforkids.com. This is really one of the best sites I've come across with regard to information, games, and a variety of tools which can be used by educators, parents as well as kids.
