Cooking… is work? Helping the kids… What are the male and female “jobs” now-a-days?

29/8/2014

There are many things in life I’ll never understand.

Planning menus..  Cooking meals… (the monthly grocery slash cooking budget etc etc) is not considered work?

(So why do/does hubbies seldom help with this – if it’s not work…?)

But when you work in the restaurant business or catering area, you get paid for the same activities…

Or doing hubby’s mails…? Heck, why can’t he read or reply his own mails, why should wife has this job as well? In-between her own, I might add?

So why, do wives not get any recognition in this regard?

When wives have an off week-end, that is, from official employment; hubby lies in bed watching tv – mostly rugby or soccer - and someone (usually the wife) - has to provide breakfast, lunch (of brunch) snacks and dinner. On a tray. And of course, at the end of the weekend, wives should feel fortunate for also having time off.

What time off…? Where? From what?

Not going to the office regularly? Hell, the office at times has less demands than during time off or working from at home!

What happens to the wife’s off weekend? Trans placing that to free catering? Where and when can she stop the bus to say, buddy, I am now living on cup-a-soup this weekend (or vanilla ice-cream or vanilla potatoes...) no roasts or traditional meals this off-time and please make you own damn bed the next couple of days ‘sommer net’ also.

Husband - do you know how to open a refrigerator door? To butter/margarine a slice of bread?  To use the microwave? (You might find enough foods in the refrigerator without having to demand your wife to jump when you click your fingers. If not, you have a serious personal melt-down pending…because, wives are increasingly, not so happy with this status quo anymore….)

Back to off weekends: What a beautiful off-time…for the wives…staying home to be slaves to their hubbies and children…

Light in the tunnel though– there are husbands who actually take their wives on real holidays!

Mostly however, she can do the same shit and jobs over and over again – simply in a different environment. Sometimes as exciting as caravan parks, should she be so fortunate. In these cases, she has the wonderful opportunity of finding public washing machines (or do washing by hand) do cooking in an even more rural environment or work harder keeping the tent and caravan or rented home/flat live-able. Especially as the male parts might believe their holidays include e.g. not even having to make their own beds, rinse their coffee cups, etc.

I want to know about wives who work full time and during evenings and at night have to juggle the rest of it. Without help in particular…

Look, if you don’t have an outside job there taking you away from home during day hours, and your job is raising children and being in charge of the household – while hubby works his butt off to provide the roof over your head and all income -  Different situation altogether. You cannot expect from your husband to do the meals. Or to do the children’s homework (granted, situations differ). That then becomes part of your job curriculum.

You might complain time out because you’ve been stuck with the kids the whole day long…

Guess what?

Hubby was stuck with earning monies the whole day long so you have the opportunity to be stuck with the kids and house hold!

Let me know about husband and wife job duties and roles. What do you experience, and what would you prefer, and, do you think there is any difference from today to previous (your parents, the dinosaur age…)

What do you think?

Personally, I feel that if I am also working my butt during the day to earn income, hubby is really more that allowed to assist with the household duties after hours.

I think, we are now in a century with such different demands, which includes male and female job differentiation to be reconsidered by many…

We have to reconsider and reconstruct so many role descriptions and duties in this new age...
